Having problems with your hairdo? Get yourself a good hair mask then! Because it has a more intensive effect, it is the only key to the health and beauty of hair. Searching for the best product? Let me round up my top picks from all I’ve been testing. Check them out because using a great hair mask really pays!
How to choose the best hair mask?
Naturally, you must choose the right one for your hair type. If your hair is dry because you often blow-dry or spends lots of time in the sunlight then a hydrating mask is the best choice. Masks with emollient substances will serve both dehydrated and healthy hair. Keratin-rich masks should be everyone’s must-have because keratin builds the hair and revitalizes it to ensure perfect health. It’s also essential for all those whose hair is damaged from coloring, bleaching or straightening. Below I present masks for specific hair types. You’ll also see ones that are good for every type of hair.
The Best Hair Masks
Nanoil Keratin Hair Mask
Purpose: dry, damaged, aging, oily, fine, delicate, healthy hair
The best hair mask I’ve ever used – it brilliantly repairs because it abounds in hydrolyzed keratin (more effective than the regular keratin because it’s made from smaller molecules for easier absorption). Next to it, there’s a beautifying panthenol loved by hairdressers. This mask is excellent if you want to improve the condition of your hair and make it smoother quickly. I was pleasantly surprised after using it for the first time. Another great thing is it doesn’t cost much but lasts long, is lightweight, and boasts strongly-repairing and beautifying properties. It’s a marvelous thing and a must-have for any hair type.

MOROCCANOIL Restorative Hair Mask
Purpose: dry, dull, stiff hair
If your hair starts getting dry, frizzy and hard to tame, loses hydration and looks dull – try a product recommended in hair salons. MOROCCANOIL Restorative Hair Mask helps me moisturize the hair in the summer heat. This oil-rich mask keeps water inside of hair so it can stay smooth and hydrated. Unfortunately, it may overburden fine hair. There’s a solution you can try: apply it only on the hair ends (they’re usually the most dry). On the debit side, it has a too high price and too small a jar.
Alterna Caviar Replenishing Moisture Masque
Purpose: colored, damaged, dull, sun-bleached, aging hair
A costly mask which rescues the most damaged hair. It takes little time to moisturize as well as revitalize the hair. Alterna Caviar Replenishing Moisture has a rich formula with some unique ingredients like caviar extract which deeply nourishes and revives the hair, plus silk proteins and strengthening roseroot extract. The manufacturer assures that the product has been tested for the aging effect and is highly effective at enhancing mature, damaged and dull strands. I use the Alterna Caviar Replenishing Moisture Masque every two weeks because I get my hair colored regularly and the mask helps me revive the color and prevent fading.
Ouai Thick Hair Treatment Masque
Purpose: hydrating mask for thick, heavy hair, including hair which is prone to oil buildup
Thick, heavy, low-porosity hair can be in perfect condition too. You need to nourish and hydrate it or else it will start getting dry ends. Fortunately, there’s also a treat for such oil-prone strands – special products made for this hair type, including a superb Ouai Masque which moisturizes, nourishes, strengthens and protects from damage but doesn’t weigh hair down. This lightweight product brings amazing benefits but I don’t like the price. Still, I can’t not mention that, together with Nanoil, it’s the only mask that doesn’t overburden the strands even if you apply too much. The Ouai Thick Hair Treatment contains shea and illipe butters, almond oil, olive oil, macadamia oil and a little keratin. Regular use gives softer, more shiny and manageable hair without the unnecessary heavy feel.
Kiehl’s Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Hair Mask
Purpose: a repairing mask for all hair types
This mask was once my favorite repairing and strengthening hair product. I say “was” because it was before I came across Nanoil. Now I prefer to use a more effective mask which has a better effect on my strands, plus it’s three times cheaper! I mention the Kiehl’s Olive Fruit Oil Deeply Repairative Hair Mask out of sentiment I guess. I think I may buy it again one day to take a break from the Nanoil’s keratin mask (yet you should know Nanoil has some other brilliant hair masks e.g. hydrating with algae or detoxifying with activated charcoal for oily hair). The Kiehl’s Mask is rich in precious oils, including energizing and freshening essential lemon oil which brilliantly moisturizes and smooths the hair.
That’s the end of my round-up with the beloved hair masks. Have any of them caught your eye? Share its name and tell me why!
