Skin must be taken care of to stun – everybody knows that, right? How to care for it, then? This isn’t so obvious! Should your morning and evening skin care differ? What products to pick? Would you like to know the secrets of the morning and nighttime skin care? Keep reading!
Morning skin care: secrets to success
1. Don’t overburden the skin.
Avoid heavy creams and thick oils – even if your skin is very dry, the oil particles will build up on its surface and weigh it down instead of protecting. The protective layer doesn’t have to be thick to fulfil its purpose and prevent dryness of the epidermis. There are plenty of lightweight moisturizers that hydrate and protect the skin, not leaving a greasy film.
2. Wake your face up, give it a massage.
Face massage – we’re always too busy to do it but it shouldn’t be so! Even 3 minutes are enough to revive your skin. Sounds like some catchphrase? Using a metaphor, a face massage is like a workout for your body. A cold thing is perfect for massaging: an ice cube in a cloth or jade roller livens the skin up and gives it a boost for a new day.
3. Use a lightweight hydrating serum
Serum is a miracle-working cosmetic invention and one of the best products you can pamper your skin with. A top-notch non-overburdening serum, e.g. rich in the evergreen (ideally low molecular weight) hyaluronic acid, is the bull’s eye.
4. Reach for a delicate protective day moisturizer
Day skin care focuses on protecting the face against all nasties such as pollutants, car fumes, sun damage, etc. A high-quality moisturizer will surely manage.
5. Heavy foundation? Nope, forget it
Don’t use camouflage foundations that keep the skin from breathing. If you do, you intensify the oil secretion and upset the sebum production balance. A quality BB cream is more than enough, really!
6. Beneficial floral waters
Is there a girl who hasn’t heard of flower waters? They make a perfect pick before applying serum. Use it also during the day to freshen the skin up. Flower waters, herbal infusions and natural toners are essential, making the skin more absorbent and calm.
Evening skin care: secrets to success
1. No mercy for pollutants and contaminants
If you could see the things settling on your skin during the day under the microscope, you would feel disgusted! Toxins, smog, dust, stress, microbes and other nasties – you must get rid of them and remove makeup to let the skin breathe. Put your mind to it: use an effective makeup remover, a cleanser and a scrub on a weekly basis. That is all your skin needs to sigh with relief.
2. Massage never fails!
It’s good to give the face a massage in the PM too. Do it while washing the face or while smoothing oils over the skin – if you use the Oil Cleansing Method.
3. Use essence instead of a toner
Before sleep I like to use a richer essence instead of floral or thermal water. It resembles a toner but it’s more runny. It’s also higher in skin-conditioning ingredients so it ideally fits into the nighttime skin care.
4. Night serum: secret to flawless skin
I guess I could write a lengthy essay on serums. I’m hung up on them. No worries, I’ll just sum up all the benefits for you. The best nighttime serum should be rich in retinol or vitamin C – both ingredients enable the skin to rest, repairing it intensively at the same time. In essence, serum is a key to successful night skin care so choose it wisely: one that has just a few necessary substances, plus the best form of vitamin C or retinol.
5. Tuck your skin with a night cream
Obviously a day cream doesn’t work at all since it’s high in SPF and protective substances that are completely useless at night. Choose a rich cream holding some essential substances e.g. coenzyme Q10 or oils such as argan oil. You can actually enrich your cream with a few drops of a favorite pure oil – I always do that when my skin looks tired and doesn’t get enough sleep.
What do you do during your morning and night skin care? 🙂
