Hair repair plan. Where to begin with?

Hair repair plan. Where to begin with?

Hey girls,

I still remember my hair being dull and shine-deprived. Luckily, this isn’t the case any longer! People (mainly the coworkers) who have known me for some time now, they keep asking me how I managed to improve the appearance of my hair. Where did I begin with? How did I repair the strands? Hopefully, today I’ll answer all the questions.

If you want to have fabulous hair, you have to expose it to the right conditioning treatments – this is obvious, right? Also, you should also always check the list of ingredients of the products you want to put on the hair. If our shelves are filled with the hair care products formulated with harsh substances, parabens and dehydrating alcohols, your strands will never be fully repaired.

What to start the fight for healthy strands with?

Well, firstly, you have to make sure that your hair receives all the essential conditioning substances it needs. Obviously, you have to match the hair care products to the porosity level of your hair. Even the tool you use to detangle the hair matters. The same applies to the way in which you arrange the hair daily and how you treat the hair throughout a day.

Hair porosity

This is a way in which the hair cuticles are arranged along the hair shaft, so to say. It’s an incredibly important criterion when it comes to defining the general condition of the hair. Once you know how porous your strands are, you will have no problems whatsoever with choosing the right hair care products. However, if it’s hard for you to define the hair porosity level, you can visit a trichologist to get the answer.

Hair oil treatment

Undoubtedly, this hair treatment is gaining in popularity constantly. Ever since I started applying plant oils to my hair, I’ve been amazed by the results. Once you find and match the oils to your hair type, they will work miracles. You don’t know where to start? Try getting organic, cold-pressed, pure and unrefined plant/vegetable oils. With their help your strands will be supplied with vitamins, minerals and numerous nourishing substances. The good news is that plant oils are perfectly suitable to be applied to the scalp too – this strengthens the follicles. Another important issue is that the oils you want to treat the hair with can’t be enriched with any synthetic substances. Therefore, when you read the label and find out that a particular plant/vegetable oil is composed of more than one ingredient, I suggest putting this product back – you don’t want it, trust me. Once again, selecting the right oil is crucial, bear this in mind. Obviously, you can blend a few oils together to create your all-natural customized hair care products. Regularly applied, the oils make hair beautiful, strong and lustrous.

What do you wash the hair with?

Mind the products you use to wash the hair with. A shampoo containing silicones, alcohols and parabens will take care of the hair but not of the scalp. More worryingly, such shampoos disturb the oily glans and contribute to dryness and irritations. If I were to advise you, I’d say that you shouldn’t wash your hair with such shampoos more than once a week. On a weekly basis, instead, you should treat the strands with hair masks. Best if they are composed of natural ingredients.

Change the hairbrush

I hate to say this but if you keep detangling your strands with traditional hairbrushes and combs then you’re the one who increases the risk of static and frizz. Also, such tools aren’t gentle to the hair since they break it and pull out. More often than not such accessories don’t glide over the strands smoothly, hence the tugging. Hair detangling also matters and is a basic element of a hair maintenance treatment. Therefore, I’d advise you to get a tangle teezer or a wooden wide-tooth comb.

Blow-drying

Surely, I’m not the first one saying that a hot air stream generated by a blow-dryer causes huge damage to the hair – and you know it! The same is with the high temperature generated by a flat iron or a curler. Okay, I know that sometimes you have to speed up the drying time, so if you want to minimize the adverse effects, get yourself a temperature control hair dryer. Also, I’d advise you to invest some money in a dryer with ionic technology. Why is it so important? Because ionic hair dryers prevent static and help you get smooth strands.

Hair styling products

I think you know that the huge majority of commercial hair styling products tend to contain plenty of artificial ingredients that influence the hair structure negatively. When applied to hair regularly, such products make the strands brittle, dull and shine-deprived. For that reason, you better reach for such products occasionally. Next time you shop for some hair styling products, try to find the cosmetics that are composed of safe ingredients. It’d be even better if you managed to find some hair care products enriched with the nutrients your hair needs.

I guess this is everything I wanted to share with you today. I hope that with my pieces of advice you will manage to repair the hair to soon enjoy long and fabulous tresses. Good luck!
