Best fine hair care tips

Hey!

All fine hair owners know it too well that styling such “barely-there” strands happens to be quite challenging. Actually, I’d say that it’s really tedious. Adding some volume to fine and limp hair seems to be almost impossible. However, I did my best and worked out a few techniques that make fine hair more voluminous. I’ll also tell you how to repair thin hair and make it stronger.

Fine hair care tips

At the beginning I was convinced that this task – adding more body and volume to fine hair – is an onerous one. Fortunately, I’ve learnt a few techniques that helped me take good care of my hair and I’m more than happy to share them with you!

Firstly, don’t add any load to your hair. Otherwise it will get heavy and droopy – it will lose the volume. Fine hair has to be nourished, and that’s one of the very basic things to begin with. However, bear in mind that the conditioner you want to use can’t be too heavy because limp hair won’t be able to lift it, so to say. Also, resigning from treating the hair with conditioners isn’t a good idea either. Such cosmetics are needed, otherwise the hair will lack the much-needed hydration. Without nutrients and water, the hair will look flat and greasy.

Secondly, pick a hair shampoo for fine and thin hair. Trust me, it’s extremely important to treat delicate hair with such gentle cleansers. Just visit any local drugstore to find a volume boosting shampoo destined for fine hair. Once you start using it, your hair will get miraceoulsy more voluminous and you will be finally satisfied.

I’d also like to tell you that fine hair prefers being treated with regular conditioners that has to be removed after 3-4 minutes. I can see a huge difference in the way my hair looks when I treat it with a conditioner and when I forget to apply it. Without the conditioner, my hair is flat, limp, rough and – to make the matter even worse – it’s brittle. This is why you should never refrain from using hair conditioners.

Prefer leave-in conditioners? Okay, so give plant oils a try. Such natural substances nourish the hair and leave it lustrous and soft. On the top of that, plant oils offer natural sun protection filters and can be used as a replacement for commercial heat protection products.

Another hair care product that fine hair owners should consider using is a hair mousse, especially the one that is responsible for boosting hair volume. Honestly, this is one of my fave hair styling products. I always put a dollop of a mouse to my hair before blow drying. I noticed that it helps me prevent the hair from being stiff. Obviously, mousse facilitates styling and improves the hold, which are additional benefits to mention.

Drying hair with a round brush sounds like a perfect idea. At the beginning, when you aren’t skilled yet, using a round brush may be pretty problematic, yet I’m sure you’ll master this “art” sooner or later (I believe sooner). Actually, you can try drying your hair by flipping the head upside-down. This will help you lift the roots.

If you can’t imagine a day without a flat iron, let me tell you that you can achieve the very same effect of smooth and straight hair using only… a round brush! Trust me, cutting down on a flat iron is possible. Once you stop maltreating the fine hair with this extremely hot styling tool, you will see your fine hair gradually winning more body! Sadly, this transformation needs some time, but the wait is worth it.

My ways to make fine hair look fuller and thicker

Ever since I stopped using too many hair care products, I observed that my hair is in a visibly better shape – it isn’t weighed down any longer. I focused on literally just a couple of hair hair products and that’s it. It wasn’t hard to realize that my hair needed to carry too much weight. The product overload made the hair look flat.

I get my hair trimmed regularly. This is another issue worth bearing in mind, especially when the hair is fine. Once I get rid of split and brittle ends, it’s way easier for me to manage and tame the hair. Also, in the case of fine hair, don’t go for layering. Fine hair should have one length, otherwise it loses the much-desired volume.

My last piece of advice concerns silk – I stopped using it. It can’t be denied, back then it used to be my favorite cosmetic, however, I realized that it’s too heavy for fine hair so I just had to resign from applying it. Instead, I went for lightweight plant oils that don’t contribute to making the hair flat and limp. I also noticed that ever since I stopped spreading silk over my strands, the hair remains fresh longer!

Generally speaking, all hair types can become dull, fine and volume-deprived unless you expose it to the right conditioning treatments. Take good care of the hair and it’ll win its lost shine back!
